Commemorative Groundplans rugs celebrating the centennial of woman's right to VOTE!

Over a year ago, we sat down with our friend Coline Jenkins, the great, great granddaughter of Elizabeth Cady Stanton, to brainstorm a special rug for two very special events: the centennial of the woman’s right to VOTE, and the unveiling of the first statue of real women in Central Park - women’s rights pioneers. The statue would be the culmination of years of advocacy and fundraising by Coline and the Monumental Women organization, and would showcase three women: Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Anthony, and Sojourner Truth.

We spent the next several months brainstorming designs from the Elizabeth Cady Stanton Trust collection of 3,000 items of 1920’s suffragette memorabilia and settled on an impactful image from a 1920’s stamp: a woman holding the American flag, standing in front of the United States Capitol building.

On August 26th, 2020, attendees including Hilary Clinton and Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer gathered to honor and celebrate the unveiling.

We are honored to have worked with Coline and the Monumental Women organization on this important milestone.
